Join our team as a full-time bookkeeper for two weekly newspapers that produce special sections, niche products, a website and various digital products. The right candidate must be a team player, possess overall computer skills, Quickbooks experience preferred, and can work well with other staff, customers, and the general public. They must also possess an attention to detail. Meeting deadlines is a must.

Wharton County Newspapers has an immediate opening for full-time news reporters.

The ideal candidate is writer who can contribute dynamic feature stories in addition to covering straight news. Photographic and social media skills are a big plus. Knowledge of InDesign software and Photoshop is helpful, but can be taught.

Our next reporter must be a team player and enjoy collaborative efforts as well as be able to work independently. The ability to meet deadlines is a must.

Wharton County Newspapers is located in Wharton County on U.S. 59 between Houston and Victoria.

Responsibilities and Duties
A reporter's job varies each day as the subjects change. This post requires covering assigned beats as well as feature stories. Our writers cover their subject from start to finish – doing the interview, taking the photos, writing the stories and designing the pages to present coverage to our readers. Knowledge of InDesign software and Photoshop is helpful, but can be taught.

Qualifications and Skills
Candidates with previous newspaper experience are preferred, but will consider college graduates with outstanding skills. Please attach any clips for review.
