Texas Better Newspaper Contest is now open for entries

It’s time to get entries in for the 2018 Texas Better Newspaper Contest.
TPA member newspapers are invited to upload entries through the Texas BNC online contest platform. Access the platform at www.texaspress.com/bnc and click on the ENTER NOW button. Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. March 22.
The 2018 Texas Better Newspaper Contest is open to all newspapers that were members of TPA during the entirety of 2017.
The 2018 Call for Entries booklet, which includes rules and information about the competition categories has been mailed. If you didn’t receive a booklet in the mail, contact the TPA office or click here for a PDF version.
When the contest opens, participants are encouraged to log in to their newspapers’ accounts to make sure account information and passwords are correct. For help with lost passwords or other information, contact contest coordinator Candace Velvin at cvelvin@texaspress.com or 512-477-6755.
Winners will be announced at the annual contest awards luncheon on June 23 at the conclusion of the TPA Newspaper Leadership Retreat at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa in Montgomery.
Annual contests are made possible with the help of other press associations across the country, which participate in a contest swap to judge one another’s competitions.
TPA’s partner this year is the Nebraska Press Association. NPA’s Better Newspaper Contest is also a spring competition and Texas judges are needed to evaluate the entries.
Publishers, editors, designers, writers and advertising representatives are all needed as volunteer judges.
For more information about the contest or volunteering to judge, contact Candace Velvin, contest coordinator, at cvelvin@texaspress.com.
