AUSTIN – Rep. Giovanni Capriglione, R-Keller, and Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin, announced Tuesday they had filed two bills aimed at restoring public access to information essential to holding government accountable in its business dealings with private businesses and non-profit groups.

The lawmakers said the bills will restore access to financial information open to the public for decades prior to two 2015 rulings by the Texas Supreme Court that severely weakened the Texas Public Information Act.

The Dallas Morning News announced it has signed a letter of intent to move its headquarters to The Statler Library, formerly known as the Old Dallas Central Library, at the corner of Commerce and Harwood Streets in downtown Dallas. After 67 years at its home on Young Street, the Morning News is taking the next step in its transformation to a digitally-focused media company. The move is planned for mid- 2017.

The deadline for filing your Statement of Ownership, Management, and Circulation (PS Form 3526) with the U.S. Postal Service is Oct. 1 of each year. In addition, the statement must be published during the month of October.

The filing and publication of this form is a requirement for maintaining periodicals mailing privileges. Dailies must publish a completed copy of this form in their newspaper by Oct. 10, and non-dailies by October 31.

USPS revised PS form 3526 in 2014. The proper form to use has a July 2014 date at the very bottom of the form.
