Foundation Royalties

Dear Texas Publisher:

Attached you will find a letter of authorization allowing Newz Group to provide future royalty payments and reports directly to the Texas Press Foundation for content redistributed from your publication.

Over the last two decades, Newz Group has generated over a million dollars for the Texas Press Association and its members. This sounds like a lot of money when presented as a lump sum. In actuality, though, this cumulative amount was collected through thousands of modest payments.

Upwards of seventy-five percent of individual royalty checks are for amounts less than $5.00 per quarter – many are for less than $1.00. Collectively, though, a handsome sum of money is distributed to Texas newspapers each year. Pooling the funds will allow the Foundation to leverage the money more productively for the betterment of all Texas publishers.

The royalty program is administered in conjunction with the Texas Press Association, through its affiliation with Newz Group and the Texas Press Archive. Please know that we appreciate the privilege of working with TPA and your publication, and we take our responsibilities seriously. As newspaper people, you understand the importance of transparency, and so do we. If there is ever a question about the royalties paid – or anything else – we encourage you to reach out.

In sum, we respectfully request that you sign the attached letter of authorization, allowing Newz Group to remit royalty payments on your behalf to the Texas Press Foundation.
