Marie Bankard

Pittsburg Gazette and the Steel Country Bee

Marie Bankard is the new general manager of the Pittsburg Gazette and the Steel Country Bee.  Bankard has been with the publications for over a year. She has been in charge of advertising and marketing for both papers. Previously, she worked for another paper where she was in charge of sales, graphics, layout, and production. 

 

Andrew Brosig

Tyler Morning Telegraph

Photojournalist Andrew Brosig has joined the Tyler Morning Telegraph after 10 years at The Daily Sentinel. Brosig previously worked at The Star-Herald and for a group of papers in Kansas. 

In his 25-year career, Brosig has won dozens of photojournalism awards, including the Texas Associated Press Managing Editor’s Star Photojournalist of the Year Award. 

Steven Ray Hernandez 

San Benito News 

Steven Ray Hernandez was named news editor and writer at the San Benito News. He began his career at the News in 2004 as a sportswriter, before leaving to write for other publications and work as a musician and actor. 

 

Clay Ihlo

The Panola Watchman

Clay Ihlo has been promoted to editor of The Panola Watchman after serving as sports editor there for more than two years. 

Ihlo, a native of Center, joined the newspaper in July 2012, after graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler in December 2011, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. 

 

Andy Sevilla

Bastrop Advertiser and Smithville Times

Andy Sevilla was named editor of the Bastrop Advertiser and the Smithville Times on March 18.  

Sevilla graduated from Texas State University with degrees in mass communication and political science. He interned in KXAN’s news department in Austin and later served as the senior reporter for the Hays Free Press in Hays County, where he covered city and county government, crime and courts, water, transportation and the area’s explosive population boom.
