Holloway, 57th president, was born Nov. 23, 1888, in Lancaster. He learned the type cases while serving as delivery boy for the Wilkinson Printing Company.
Holloway left Dallas in 1906 and spent several years as a printer on the Lancaster Herald and the Mineral Wells Index. In 1911 he returned to Dallas to join the editorial department of the News.
He bought the Deport Times in 1912 and in 1936 he founded the nearby Talco Times and in 1937 he bought the Bogata News.
Holloway was president of North and East Texas Press Association in 1926-27 and is that association’s namesake memorial award.
