Born in Blakeslee, Ga., July 15, 1867, J.R. Ransone Jr., 32nd president, came to Texas with his parents when he was 4. The family lived for a time at Indianola, moving only a few days before that ill-fated town was wiped out by storm and flood.

As a boy he was a printer’s devil in the same office in which James S. Hogg had worked. In 1887 he founded the Cleburne Enterprise and published that paper until about a year before his death Jan. 20, 1924.

He married Josie Keating in 1894 and became a member of Texas Press Association the same year.

He was postmaster at Cleburne during Woodrow Wilson’s terms as president. He had two daughters and two sons.
