The Archer County News is looking for a self-motivated Reporter to join our team in Archer City. A qualified candidate should have reliable transportation, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Other responsibilities include:

· Covering the sporting events and athletes of the three county high schools.

· Helping the editorial team cover and report on city council and school board meetings as assigned.

· Helping produce six different special sections throughout the year.

· Taking photos of county events as needed.

· Proofreading the paper and checking advertisements for correct information.

· Answering phones and helping with other office tasks as needed.

We are looking for a college graduate with a knowledge of AP style, the ability to meet deadlines and knowledge of Adobe suite or someone with at least two years of journalism experience. Experience with a camera is preferred but not required.

The Archer County News covers the municipalities of Archer City, Holliday, Lakeside City, Megargel, Scotland and Windthorst as well Archer City ISD, Holliday ISD and Windthorst ISD. The publication produces 51 editions and six special sections annually.

This position will be paid based on experience with opportunities to grow within the organization. The position also includes PTO, paid holidays, and expense reimbursement.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Denton Record-Chronicle is seeking a full-time Content Producer to join our newsroom in Denton. The Content Producer should be a passionate, entrepreneurial, innovative person to help bring the Denton Record-Chronicle’s focus on utility-driven content and audience growth and engagement to life.

This is an entry-level position that welcomes creativity and opportunities for growth and professional development. This position is classified as FLSA non-exempt and is eligible for overtime and reports to the Director of Content.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The ideal content producer:

Will handle content planning and creation for the Denton Record-Chronicle's Denton U section and email newsletter, including building and sending weekly newsletters.
Is connected to the world outside our newsroom. The ideal candidate must be capable of following social media, watching trends and using community involvement in determining what coverage makes the most sense for readers, across all of the Denton Record-Chronicle's sections.
Work closely on production of the Denton County magazine with the director of content to assure production timelines and content deadlines are met.
Is passionate about engagement. The right content producer will be eager to better understand target audiences and develop innovative content plans to reach them.
Develop and implement audience and engagement strategies to build Denton County magazine and Denton U audiences throughout Denton County.
Will identify content from other local news sources that are relevant to readers and aggregate them online in a more understanding, utility-driven way.
Will understand and appreciate AP Style and traditional newswriting standards.
Other duties as assigned

Position: Reporter who can write and also do a little Graphic Design, page layout in InDesign

We have an employee who is retiring in late September. We are looking for someone whose worked for small weekly newspapers, and knows a little bit of everything.

We would love it if we can find a candidate who likes to write (covering some city, school, and or county meetings etc), and who also knows a little bit about graphic design. Someone with experience in InDesign is a must, as you will also help with page layout on press day.

Part timers can fit the bill if you can work all day Monday and Tuesday and possibly one other day of the week (your choice). Will consider full time as well.
