The Runnels County Register, located in Ballinger, Texas, is seeking an ambitious, self-starting reporter. We are looking for a storyteller to bolster our newsroom by focusing on feature stories highlighting our communities. The ideal candidate will concentrate on telling the tales of community members, locally owned businesses and our ever-changing communities. The more versatile you are, the better.
Applicants should be comfortable submitting FOIA requests, posting on social media sites, working in a fast-paced newsroom and hitting a daily deadline. Wesner Publications has an immediate opening for an Advertising Representative with our newspaper in Madill, Oklahoma.

Preference will be given to candidates with proven abilities to help businesses grow and find the right combination of multimedia advertising choices to meet their needs through a combination of respected print and digital products.

Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers and are responsible for selling to established accounts, prospecting and cold calling. Must be able to work within deadlines.

We need goal oriented, motivated, organized self-starters with proven skills in customer relations and sales. College degree and outside sales experience preferred, but not required. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and current auto insurance. Drug and alcohol testing will be required prior to any job offer.

These are full-time positions that includes a base salary plus commissions; expense reimbursement; and paid vacation and holidays.

The Longview News-Journal, an award-winning daily newspaper, is seeking energetic local news reporters who live to beat the competition, always have a pocket full of ideas for newsy enterprise, and love competing for the top spot on our home page, front page and social media channels.

Candidates will have a proven ability to:

Build a beat and break news.
Generate story ideas independently and collaborate with online and print staff on daily news and enterprise.
Produce multimedia content.
Cover and advance news using social media tools.
Produce fast-turnaround stories on major news that can help drive online traffic.
Produce enterprise off the news to advance the story.
Write with an authoritative voice and have the ability to quickly synthesize material from multiple sources.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, curious and dedicated to fair and accurate reporting. We need reporters who are comfortable interacting with all types of people – from sources to readers – and who can skillfully relay both the hard news and the human interest story.

Two years of newspaper experience is preferred, but will consider recent graduate with good clips from internship or college newspaper work. Candidates must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance and must be able to successfully complete a drug screen and background check.
