The Dublin Citizen @ Dublin

The Dublin Citizen was started Aug. 30, 1990, at the request of local citizens as they wanted a locally owned newspaper that reflected the people of Dublin. Members of the Dublin Industrial Foundation persuaded journalist Karen Wright, owner of a local meat processing plant, to start a newspaper that would be more responsive to the needs of the town. The result of the group's decision was the Dublin Citizen. Since that time, the Citizen has strived to serve Dublin and the immediate area. It has been supported by Dublin citizens and has continued to grow. On Aug. 1, 2002, Wright sold the newspaper to newspaper veteran Mac McKinnon, a native of Dublin who wanted to return to his hometown after slinging ink in Fort Worth, Colorado City, Burnet, Pecos and Fort Morgan, Colo., taking brief flings at television in Midland and writing a true-life crime book published in 1991.
